Self Tanner Secrets

Ok, we all know that my motto, Tanfat looks better than white fat. Oh I know so many of you are probably saying, why any fat at all? Well you do need some healthy body fat to live! HAHA.

Today's silly blog is about self tanners and tanning beds, I am going to give you the skinny on both right now. Are you ready?????? Here it is, a life's long worth of revelations.

Tanning beds secret: Stop doing it or you will need to get all new skin at 40! Simple isn't it.

Self Tanners: Please use one responsibly, stop with the streaking, the orange hue all over you and the general fakeness of it all. Especially if you are applying it and dont wash your hands properly and look like you have Orange Ice Cream hands.

So, what do we do to get some sun. GO OUTSIDE! HIT THE STREETS, GO TO A PARK, BIKE RIDE, SURF, WALK THE DOG. Save the money and do it the ole natural way! Get off the computer and go outside!

Calories is It!

No matter how much cardio you do, how much you workout, how much we lie to ourselves, we can not lose weight if we eat more than we burn.

That's right, can can not lose body fat, we can not lose unwanted pounds if the amount of calories we take in everyday are more than what we burn. It pretty simply to figure out if you are over eating, eating more than we burn. The scales dont lie. Even if you are lean and want to be leaner. The old saying is, getting in great shape is all about the food, not the working out. This does not mean stop working out and starve yourself.

Your body should be athletic, you should be heart healthy and you need to get your body weight in order to fight disease, especially heart disease. So, stop fooling yourself. If you want a SIX PACK OF ABS DONT DRINK A SIX PACK. (YES MUCH OF MY BLOG IS FILLED WITH HUNMOR AND intelligence.

Chocolate Craze

Ok has all this Candy on sale made you stop and buy some?
Well, go ahead. Isnt life about doing what you want in moderation.
I mean was it one piece of candy that made you gain 20lbs? No.

Was it one beer that made you eat bad at midnight? No.
So let get real. Have candy, drink a glass of wine, eat a french fry. Just stop doing all these things till you cant button your pants. Why is it we cant stop?
Well, I do not know, but I do know, one piece of candy didnt make us the overweight
nation we are. It was the excess. So, once again, put the fork down and stop stuffing your self!

Six Packs

Ok, everyone always aske me how do you get a Six?

My response is always the same- Put the six pack down and you may have a six pack..LOL. Honestly, what is our obsession with these abs, you can have flat, lean abs and still not have those 6, 8 or more indentations on your abs. Lots is
genetic, most is diet and all is luck.

SO, the next time you see a six pack of abs walking at the beach, yell out. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teh Power of Sugar

Teh power of SUGAR and I dont mean this in a good way.

have you ever had one cookie and been able to put it down? Have you ever wondered why your getting fat off of that coffee drink. Well you know why, because of all that sugar and sugar subs that are in our food and are making us fat. Empty calories, carb conversions, we are simply over doing it.

People always ask me, what do I use in my coffe. I say, sugar in the raw, all natural and no fakes. I use one packet so that I dont get a sugar craving. We need to realize it is over done in every thing we eat. And I am not a fan of chemicals. I like organic, all natural, free range etc.

Let remember, if you want to be fitter, healthier, leaner body, eat what if grown versus what is made. Yes, thats right, eat what is grown from earth versus what is processed in a factory.

FIND A FRIEND

We all have some sort of goal in life. It can be about fitness, work, home or lots of other things. Well, when it comes to your fitness goals, I encourage you to try and find a friend to help you achieve goals.

Someone to help you keep on track, stay on course, keep you motivated and when one of you falls of the horse, your workout buddy can help lift you back into the saddle.
I know for me I find the people working out next to me at the gym, park or tennis court, extremely motivating. I use these people to keep pushing myself.
They are there every week and are reaching goals, so why cant I do it.

Do whatever you have to do. If it is weight loss, anti aging, becoming a better athlete, use the guy or girl next to you to push yourself or find a friend and do it together. Just dont give up.

Healthy Fat Food

Its official, veggies can make you fat, milk can make you fat, lean chicken can make you fat. Trust me its true. Ill lift up my shirt later, in private.

Just kidding. But not kidding about us over eating. We just eat to much. It doesnt matter how much good stuff or BAD stuff you eat, if you eat more calories than you burn you will gain weight.

This isnt rocket science, it is just a matter of fact. So next time you want to eat peas until you turn green, remember you need to eat the porportions. Yes, we need to learn to PUT THE FORK DOWN. Put it down when you start feeling full, eat smaller meals and eat smaller meals more often. I know you can do it, so get to it.

SUGAR, SUGAR,SUGAR

SALT,SALT,SALT.
Ever notice how you feel the next day after a night of drinking or sushi. It amazing how the salt and sugars can bloat you and make you feel strange the next day. What about the face. The face always looks fat after a crazy diet.

It is time to look at the fact that you are no longer young enough to bounce back quickly after a day of eating bad or night of partying. So, like most things in life, moderation is the key. Why do we over do it? I dont know, but I know we do.
Moderation can be the key to maintain weight loss or lose weight.

So, the next time you order you third or 9th drink at the bar, think about the next day and all the time you have already put in the gym. Just say no! Do you remember that saying dont ya?

Its Official

You do look better with a tan and shaved. It actually can take 10 years off.

So, not to sound shallow, but sometimes we all just need a pick me up. Go out get some sun, either walk or lay out and read. A little sunshine can go a long way.
Then shave all the right areas and you will feel fresh. I realize this sounds nuts, but just give it a chance.

I cant be deep every week, sometimes I have to give you a simple tip that works. So get to it. Vitamin D, here we come.

I FELL DOWN

Ok, everyone,I fell down today at the gym. Yes, me, I fell over.

Now that you have stopped laughing I gotta tell you what realization I had when I fell over that bench and landed on my ass. The realization as I was falling was, please God, dont let me stay down there. Yes, that is what flashed across my mind.

As many of you know, these past 2 years have challenged everything I know and believe in. So, as I landed and slowly got myself up. I laughed and then I got kinda
sad. No one came over to help. It was so strange, No one came over to help. NO ONE!

I understand everyone is in the their own gym world, and one of the hardest lessons in life is that often you simply have to help yourself up. So, I made the pledge to
myself today, I will always get up and if I see someone fall I will help. I know this sounds very cheesy today. But, that was my thought and I wanted to share it with you. I am greatful to have gotten up!

So get up and get to the gym!

CARBS R US!

Ok, todays blog entry is about the CARB MYTH.......

We have all heard that carbs are the enemy, we have heard that fat is the enemy, we have heard that alcohol, sugar and lots of other things are the enemy. And everything you have heard is a LIE!

Yes, a lie. Here is the real breakdown and how the body works. You have something called a metabolism and it opertates on calories. It doesnt matter what you eat as long as u burn more calories than you take in. You can not get bigger on eating breads, you get bigger on over doing it. It seems to be our way of life, we are over eaters, drinkers and consumers. So, moderation, moderation, moderation!

Yes, this was not a new idea but the truth, now can you eat less and do more excericise?

The Power of FITNESS

OK, I SAY IT AND ILL SAY IT AGIAN. Fitness can change your life.
It can simply give you the tools to stay positive and achieve goals.

I know that so many of us workout simply to look good, but it is so much more than that. About 10 years ago I trained a young lady was very over weight, she was at least 100 POUNDS OVER WEIGHT. After a year of working out and altering her life choices, she not only got her body back but she would always tell me she got her life back. The weight gain was such a huge symbol of how she was dealing with life.
After she decided she was gonna win, not just at losing weight, getting heart healthy but win mentally. She won by doing something positive everyday to change the quality of her life.

I will never forget Lisa, so as I worked out today I thought of her and I realized that I could do more and do better. If she could, so could I. If she could, so COULD YOU!

THE BEST FITNESS TIP EVER:

Here is it, are you ready? The greatest fitness tip ever.

Put the glass down!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, you heard it here first, well you heard it last week as well. What does put the glass down mean?

Well so many of you say that you cant lose the body fat or cant lose the weight.
But you say you have to have your 2 glasses or more of wine a night. Or every Fri and Sat nite you party like the rockstar you wish you were. Well, put the glass down!
Put the bottle down, dont hit up the IHOP at 3 am when youve closed down the bar or dont sit infront of the TV every nite with your bottle on wine in one hand and the remote in the other. You are fooling yourself.

Lets review. A glass of red wine sounds great, a bottle of light beer sounds ok. As long as you dont drive of course. So, modertaion. And if you cant do it, stop complaing.

Todays Inspiration

I was very inspired today by all the people in class who have to stuck to their resolutions. What I was most impressed with was that most of them made a simple resolution that they had total control over.

Most of the students/members goal was simply to keep coming on a consistent basis and not be side tracked. No one talked about a pounds lost goal or stop eating foods goal, instead stick with the workout and get heart healthy and the rest will come.

After starting the new year with a revived attitude. I have been trying to keep my chin up. After 2 years of losing and shutting down my business, losing material things, I got some news today.

Somethings will be happening Monday that will determine many things for me. And even though things may look bad right now, I know someday life be ok again. I thank so many of you for your support and prayers.

Why is it that we eat so much? We always want more and we
refuse to share...LOL. As you review your new years revolutions,
remember that a great hurdle to reaching your goals, is your not so good
diet.

Now, you say Eric you are simplifying this problem but not every fitness issue needs 80 solutions. Sometimes, you just need to PUT THE FORK DOWN! Dont take it the wrong way, but if your goal is losing weight, today just take the bull by the horns and simnply, simply, simply eat right, I know you know what to do, so do it.

Cardio Can Be Boring

Heres a New Years flash for ya, not every workout is going to be fun, exciting or life altering.

As I go to the gym this week, I see all the resolutions hard at work and wonder how long you will stick with it? I understand that we all gained weight over the holidays and we all have a new goal. But are you willing to get to your goal without quiting? Or if you quit, will you get back on the horse.

Well, Im here to tell you, somedays your workouts are going to be boring and suck. Guess what, so what! Your body needs you and your health, your mind and your soul need you to stick to your resolution so that you can be the great you. YOUR REINVENTION

Who is working on their New Years reinvention? I know I am.
From losing sight of my life last year to gaining over 40lbs over two years, I have allowed the stress and toughness of life to get the best of me, well...

I am renewing my efforts to not give up on my fitness and my body. Because as my body goes so goes my mind. I am going to get out of the box of depression and negative thinking and get back to the foundation of my life.

For over 12 years, I got up 6 days a week and went to the gym, tennis or spin and not only got in shape, but focused my mind everyday on the days job at hand. I have gotten so far from this foundation, that I am determined to get it back.

TODAY: DAY 1: I taught boot camp, worked out for an hour and feel like so far im on track. So, my hope for you is that you dont give up and understand, that as the body goes so goes your mind!

Why Thinking Thin is Vital!

Ok, cant lose weight, not hitting your fat loss goals? I dont care what your trainer, video, infomercial is telling you, you gotta think thin.

This means, you gotta fake it before you make it. You have to tell yourself that you are doing well, that will hit your goals and even if your not losing on the scale, tell yourself you are on top of it and will continue on your journey.

Dont give up, think thin, look in the mirror and say something positive and tommorrow morning, look in the mirror and say, DAMN I LOOK GOOD, it will amaze you what your new found attitude will inspire you to stay on track. LASLTY, thinking thin, is whatever it is to you, thin is all about a healthy perspective.

Dont forget, tan fat is better than white fat!
